Biser Acne Cure
From LoveToKnow Skincare
Homemade tinctures are the basis of the unique Biser acne cure. Though not specifically touted as a cure for skin conditions, the Biser method is highly antibacterial, which may have a healing effect.
About Sam Biser
Sam Biser is the author of Curing with Cayenne, a privately published book that focuses on the purported healing powers of the cayenne pepper. Biser states that cayenne can "move blood" and reactivate deteriorating functions in the body. The book makes many claims about the cayenne pepper, stating that it can improve hearing; revive the senses of smell and taste; provide relief for diseases like Parkinson's and diabetes; and even nourish the heart by improving the flow of blood.
Not everyone subscribes to the theory that cayenne is quite as effective as, say, modern medicine, but individuals who practice natural healing methods and who are constantly seeking alternative remedies to treat conditions that do not respond to medication might be interested in learning more about Biser and his belief in the healing powers of cayenne.
The Biser Acne Cure
As such, there is no treatment on the market known literally as the "Biser acne cure." The "cure" refers simply to the potential for improvement that ingesting the cayenne pepper might provide. Biser's official Web site, however, does not suggest that the cayenne pepper has any properties that may have a positive effect on acne. In fact, most of conditions cayenne is associated with are related to the heart.
It is interesting to note that the Cayenne Pepper Diet, a cleansing method not associated with Biser, is said to eliminate the body's toxins through the skin, which may occasionally result in boils and pimples. This doesn't necessarily mean that the cayenne pepper is causing excess acne; on the contrary, it could be a sign that the pepper is doing its work by eliminating the body's accumulated toxins.
The cayenne pepper has strong antibacterial and antifungal properties; both of these are crucial parts of eliminating acne. Some individuals who suffer from acne have reported using the ingredient in various ways to attempt to eliminate acne marks or the actual blemishes altogether. Homemade tinctures containing cayenne are not uncommon.
Exercise Caution
Of course, any new remedy should be thoroughly researched prior to trying it out for the first time. An allergic reaction to anything is possible – natural or not – and it's not a great idea to take chances with the skin. It's also important to note that in the case of trying to cure acne or marks associated with blemishes, one skin problem already exists. Exacerbating it with a new remedy might result in an even more severe condition.
The key is to exercise extreme caution when starting a new treatment. If you've concocted a homemade remedy that contains cayenne pepper, sample a small amount first. If it's topical, apply a small quantity to the inner elbow and wait at least 24 hours. If no redness or irritation develops, you might consider trying a small amount on the area that requires treatment.
Other Skin Conditions
Though its connection with acne is relatively unknown, cayenne has been known to improve the symptoms of psoriasis on some individuals when taken internally. This is likely because of cayenne's ability to stimulate blood flow, which delivers essential nutrients (and oxygen!) to the skin and revives it. Topical creams that contain capsaicin might prove useful for this purpose, and it's worth considering for acne too if your goal is eliminate blemishes. NatureWorks Swedish Bitters Capsaicin Cream is one of the more well-known options.
