Cleansers for Oily Skin
From LoveToKnow Skincare
Cleansers for oily skin can be a godsend if you are finding yourself with a refinery on your face!
What Causes Oily Skin
While there is not one determining cause of oily skin, doctors have isolated several culprits keeping people from having a clear, shine-free complexion. Many adults first experience a change in their skin's chemistry during adolescence, which is where an increase in oil secretion is most abundant. An increase in hormones can shake up your skin's natural balance, which is why one may experience acne during puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and other times of life where your hormones go through massive changes.
While oily skin increases during the teen years, your skin usually dries up as you get older. However if you don't want to wait around until old age to get control of your pores, there are a few other oil causes you can avoid. These include your diet, medications, certain forms of cosmetics, and the climate in which you live. The best way to determine the cause of your greasy complexion if it is getting in the way of your everyday life is to visit your dermatologist.
Cleansers for Oily Skin
One blessing is found in the fact oily skin tends to age more slowly than any other skin type. However most people would rather tame the issue at hand than worry too much about the future, which is where cleansers for oily skin come into play.
Since overloaded oil glands can easily clog up pores, be sure to use plenty of hot water when washing your face. Even though your skin is far from dry, it is important you use a gentle cleanser to prevent your glands from taking a dramatic turn for the other extreme, leaving you parched and flaky.
A natural compulsion is to wash your face frequently. Hold back on this urge and keep it to a minimum of two to three times per day. Skin so clean that it “squeaks” is not good for any skin type, so find a cleanser that is oil-free but lacking in harsh chemicals.
Neutrogena is one company producing outstanding oil-free skincare. They specialize in gentle yet effective items that will keep your skin glowing and soft without excessive oil or residue left behind.
Heavy cleansing creams are not a good idea for oily skin. Many people who suffer from this skin type have found solutions in natural and organic skincare products that avoid artificial additives. Aveeno is one such popular brand. This company has been making products geared toward soothing angry skin since 1945.
If necessary, cleansers for oily skin that contain antibacterial/medicated ingredients are available over the counter or through your dermatologist.
When washing your face, massage your cleanser gently into the skin without rubbing. This can clog up your pores and aggravate blemishes already present. Even if your skin seems to oily for it, using a light daily moisturizer can help with your skin's balance and future condition.
Home Remedies
If you want to explore the creation of your own cleansers for oily skin, it can be quite simple and rewarding. When drawing a bath, apply half a teaspoon of lime and ccucumber juice to any oil-plagued areas. This will work as a cleanser that refines your skin and in turn will prevent future acne outbreaks so common with oily skin.
Using lime juice and witch hazel is also an effective cleanser for this skin type if you are experiencing a “patchy” look after applying your makeup. Cleansers can make or break oily skin, so take the time to choose an appropriate product designed to combat this common skincare inconvenience.
Lastly, you can partner your cleanser for oily skin with a clay mask. Using this a few times a week can make a huge difference on oily skin and you will love the results you quickly achieve.
Stay Consistent
When using cleansers for oily skin, or any skincare product for that matter, consistency is key. Even skipping one treatment will set you back at square one again. Keep up the momentum with quality skincare and your oily complexion should be managed and kept well under control.

Elisa, again, your situation is definitely not uncommon. Pimples are not necessarily hereditary, so even if your family members have clear skin, it unfortunately doesn't mean that you will follow that path. However, it's also important to note that your skin will undoubtedly clear up over time. As I mentioned, much of this is due to fluctuating hormones and oily skin. If you are worried or do not experience results using anti-acne products, you might want to visit a dermatologist.
Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks as always for your interest!
-- Contributed by: Tsharmahi , its me again , but why do you think that has caused me acne since i was 10 years old ??? i started ouberty when i was 11 . My family has a history of oily skin , but noone has ever had acne , or pimpels when they wer 10 or even older !!!!! thnx in advance !!!!!

The fluoride in toothpaste can be very harsh on the skin and cause a breakout, even if it's just near the area around your mouth. You might want to try out a natural, fluoride-free toothpaste (Tom's of Maine makes a good one that you can find at most grocery and drugstores).
Redness, oiliness and pimples do unfortunately go hand in hand. Given your age, your hormones are in overdrive and can easily cause your skin to appear like its out of control. Invest in a line of products for oily skin - Clean & Clear makes decent and affordable items - and stick with them unless you suffer any sensitivity to them. If your acne is truly severe, your dermatologist might prescribe a prescription product to help.
Good luck, and let us know if you have any other questions!
