Oil of Olay Products

Oil of Olay products have been manufactured for over 50 years. The brand’s first product was Oil of Olay Beauty Fluid, a moisturizer meant to mimic skin sebum. In the year 2000, Oil of Olay’s parent company, Procter and Gamble, changed the company name to simply Olay, to lessen the impression that all of the brand’s skincare products contain oils. However, the main focus of the products is still moisturizing.

Oil of Olay has 12 different product lines, each designed for a specific purpose. These lines are as follows:

• Body Cleansing – This is a line of body washes and bar soaps that contain Olay moisturizers.
• Professional – Despite the name, this line is not just for skincare professionals. Instead it is a group of anti-wrinkle and firming creams designed with the help of dermatologists.
• Classics – This line includes the original Beauty Fluid, as well as other creams, lotions and cleansers that have been on the market for a long time.
• Definity – This relatively new anti-aging line contains glucosamine to discourage not only wrinkles but also skin discoloration and dullness.
• Age Defying – This is another anti-aging line. The focus is fine lines and wrinkles specifically.
• Regenerist – This line is meant to rejuvenate skin cells, resulting in skin that is brighter and younger looking. Focuses include the under-eye area and pores.
• Touch of Sun – This is a line of moisturizers that include sunless tanners. Some products also have SPF protection.
• Total Effects – Products in this line are meant to fight aging seven ways: by firming skin, exfoliating, refining pores, enhancing skin tone, moisturizing, diminishing wrinkles and neutralizing free radicals.
• Daily Facials – These portable cloths have cleansers already in them. All the user has to do is add water.
• Deep Cleansing – These cleansers and scrubs are designed to get deep into the skin to remove all surface dirt and refresh the face.
• Complete – This line includes a group of moisturizers designed for UV protection. They are designed to last all day.
• Body Lotion – This line of moisturizers, also known as Quench, is designed not only to moisturize the skin but to build a barrier to keep it that way.

Olay has partnered with Cover Girl, another Proctor and Gamble brand, to create a line of anti-aging cosmetics. These products include a pressed powder, a foundation and a liquid makeup.

Finding an Olay product is not difficult to do. This brand is available at thousands of grocery stores and drug stores throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Olay is also distributed in South America, Asia, Europe and Australia. It is a lower priced brand and is not sold at department stores or other high end establishments.

People with skin allergies need to be careful when using Olay products. Many of them contain alcohols, paraffins, phosphates and other ingredients that could trigger skin reactions. There is no focus on making them using natural, botanical or organic products. On the plus side, Olay products do not tend to have strong fragrances or artificial coloring. However, they are not considered to be unscented.
