Wrinkle Cream
From LoveToKnow Skincare
How soon is too soon for wrinkle cream? There's an easy answer to this question: never! Even if your skin still looks young and fresh, invest in a skincare routine that includes a good quality wrinkle cream.
While the primary cause of wrinkles is the aging of the epidermis (the skin's under-layer), sun, other weather conditions, and even the facial expressions you use can contribute to those wrinkles!
Do you have a tendency to frown when you're concentrating? A preference for sleeping on a particular side? Do you pull your face when you're deep in thought, or just laugh a lot? Any of these can make wrinkles more prominent. While we'd never advise you to stop smiling, we would advise the use of a good wrinkle cream if you'd rather keep your skin looking smooth.
Every adult can use wrinkle cream. It's the type of wrinkle cream you use that takes some thought.
What Can You Expect From Your Wrinkle Cream?
The first thing you need to know is that there's no such thing as a miracle cream. Nothing you can buy will turn the clock back, or prevent wrinkles completely.
Before you get too despondent, though, there's some good news. Fine lines and wrinkles can be diminished – and new lines prevented – if you're prepared to look after your skin properly. That means cleansing, toning, and moisturizing every morning and night.
One of the best creams you can use to prevent wrinkles, believe it or not, isn't a cream that will cost you a fortune from a swanky cosmetics counter. It's good old sunscreen. Protecting your skin from the sun is one of the most important steps you can take in wrinkle prevention. We all know that too much sun can cause serious illness, such as skin cancer. Less seriously, it also causes premature aging. To prevent wrinkles, buy a good sunscreen with a protection factor of at least 15 or higher. Your skin will thank you for it.
Choosing the Right Moisturizer
Wrinkle creams are basically just moisturizers. As mentioned above, aging skin finds it harder to retain moisture. It also contains less fat, so the skin will settle into lines and furrows – wrinkles, in other words.
Moisturizing regularly, then, will keep your skin plumper and healthier looking, with lines becoming less visible. But which cream should you choose?
Your choice will, to a large extent, depend on the type of skin you have. Younger skin requires less moisture than older skin, but young skin which is very dry will require more moisture than older skin which is "normal". Confused yet? Don't be. There are four basic types of skin: oily, normal, dry, and combination. Once you've worked out what type you have, your choice of cream will be much easier.
If in doubt, pay a visit to your nearest beauty counter. The assistant there should be able to help you work out what type of skin you have and point you in the direction of the right products.
