Maribel, I'm sorry to hear that. You need to take your baby back to the doctor. If he has an infection, it's important to follow up, especially if the initially prescribed medication isn't doing the job. It's time to find a new treatment. Good luck.

Amber, this is a really common problem. One thing you can do to prevent further aggravation of your baby's neck is put a bib on her and change it often, so if she does drool it won't pool at her neck.

Aquaphor is a big favorite among parents, many of whom report great results because it keeps the area dry. Don't use baby wipes to wipe up the drool; a soft cotton cloth is best. If the situation gets worse, consult with your doctor. Best of luck.

Lani, I'm afraid I don't know what those marks could be - they truly could be anything, so it's tough for me to determine. I would definitely show them to the doctor when you see him. Good luck.

Margie,it would be impossible for me to determine what your daughter has, but it does sound like eczema. Does your daughter consume much egg or wheat at all? You can try eliminating those products for a couple of weeks to see if there is any difference in her skin's condition. Otherwise, look into rich eczema creams for babies, which are found in the children's skin care section at any drugstore. Good luck.

My baby since 4 mos has exhibited large flat liasion rash on her upper chest, near chin. In 6th mos, it has spread to inside elbows or outside, around elbow...any bend. Lately her tummy exhibits tiny red bumps and her face gets it tooo, but goes away same day. Pedi. DR. says it is eczema, but not really certain and prescribed a steriod cream...not fit for baby. So I went to an acupunturist whom says she is allergice to egg and wheat. HELP!

Ofelia, that could possibly be eczema - it's not uncommon on babies' skin. Any rash can be exacerbated by heat, though. If you're concerned about the recurrence, you might want to see your baby's doctor. However it's often best to treat the area with gentle, creamy lotions and OTC hydrocortisone. Good luck.

Good evening. My baby is having small blister behind her ear which made her scratch it especially when sweating. I tried using curash, desowen and hydrocortisone one at a time and it disappeared. It recurred when I stopped applying the stated medications. Thanks and God bless.

Great points, Michelle. Thanks for your input!

Grace, my baby also experienced a rash like you describe. For him, it is because he has eczema. I treat it like eczema and it goes away (1% hydrocortizone cream for a few days and frequent application of a moisturizer like creamy vaseline. Avoid perfumed lotions and traditional baby soaps. Use Dreft or similar baby detergent.) This might not be your issue, but you should ask your doctor about it.

Grace, it's possible she's allergic to something that's part of her regimen - it could be anything from soap to detergent. To rule out any other conditions and to determine what's causing it, visit your doctor. Good luck to you and baby!

Elena, your concerns about applying steroids to your baby's skin are definitely valid. I wouldn't recommend using these for long periods of time. Design a gentle, nurturing bath regimen for your baby with products formulated specially for eczema-prone, sensitive skin.

Gentle Naturals is a company specializing in products for baby's delicate skin. Their Baby Eczema Cream and Wash are outstanding for soothing the skin without any harsh ingredients. You might also try Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild Organic Liquid Soap. Its fragrance-free formula is ideal for your baby's skin. Keep him well-moisturized and under regular care of a doctor, who can keep a trained eye on the condition. Good luck!

Hi ladies. Thanks so much for your questions, and sorry to hear you're all going through difficulties with your little ones! I'll address each of your concerns individually.

Ellen: I haven't found any conclusive evidence of a connection between breast milk and rashes. It may be a "milk rash," which has nothing to do with milk itself but is in fact a term used to describe an outbreak on baby's skin similar to eczema or dermatitis. It manifests itself as red, inflamed skin. It's known to resolve on its own, but your child's symptoms can be relieved with a 1% hydrocortisone cream. Be sure to ask your doctor prior to use.

Deandra: As mentioned in my response to Ellen, a 1% (or even lower-strength) hydrocortisone cream may work, although you may want to consult with the doctor beforehand to make sure it's ok to use.

Chantelle: Rashes are quite common amongst babies, so try not to worry too much. That's easier said then done, of course, but chances are your baby needs a different treatment to get to the root of this problem. I'm not qualified to diagnose any conditions, however I can recommend a soothing, colloidal oatmeal-based ointment, such as one by Aveeno, may help alleviate your baby's discomfort in the meantime.

My baby of 17months started with a rash under his arms about 2 weeks ago.The dr gave us medicine but its not working.I am getting worried as the rash is spreading and getting worse.

What about over the counter creams/lotions/ointment that may soothe the discomfort until we can get into a doc's appointment. For the yeast on the neck, I mean. My 4 month old seems uncomfortable and I feel uncomfortable for him. Help?

is it possible that my baby's rashes was a result of my breastmilk? when i do sidelying feeding position sometimes i fall asleep so when she's full and unlatch, my milk will be dripping that at times it will be all over her neck.
