Dr. Downie Thank you for your helpful suggestion for skin products. I have combination skin and a few dark spots by my jawline. I really try to eat right and drink plenty of water, but sometime I don't do the right thing. I have lines in my forhead what can I do about them. samantha
-- Contributed by: Samantha EdwardsI have just purchased your book Beautiful Skin of Color and it is so hard to put it down. Many of the topics which you discuss really hit home. I have a family history of acne, keyloids, and unbalanced hormones (just to name a few). I would love to meet with you or another African American dermatologist near Florida to discuss treatment options. While I am young, I want to take care of this now!! Please write back! Thanks and God Bless!
-- Contributed by: Miss SmithI would for you to be my doctor because you specialist in tan, dark skin. But I live in Georgia and i'm to far. I have several skin problems and i wanted to see if you know of any doctor that can help me with my skin problems in Atlanta.
-- Contributed by: CynthiaDr. Downie: I have been searching for a number of years to locate a dermatologist in my area of Seattle,WA. and to my surprise there are no dermatologists in the entirer Puget Sound area that treat afro americans skin.Over the years and many appointments all of the dermatologist are quite surprise to see that I'm a Black woman and some have even say to me if they would have known I was Afro-American they would have told me that they have no expertise in the treating of Black skin.I even ask the last one saw last week about laser hair removal and she didn't know that Black women have unwanted hair growth. After seeing you this morning (05/13/08)I'm seriously thanking it would be better to relocate on the east coast not only because out here in Washington state their are so many health concerns that we as Afro-Americans have and we cann't find qualified doctors to address our concerns.King County Medical Society is of no use.I plan to be in Boston this summer and would like to make an appointment to see you.As of this date I'm not sure when in July I will be in Boston.

-- Contributed by: ZoharaHello. My name is Jenny. I have been suffering with PMLE for 8 years. I am a 30 year, fair skinned, blue eyed, white woman. I was wondering if there was any new information about this disease. I have studied it on the internet. I am currently on Cyproheptadine, Zyrtec, and Hydroxychloroquine. I just can not find any relief. I have a great dermatologist, but I heard about the work that you do. If you could assist I would appreciate it. Thanks Jenny
