I had fraxel once in March 2008, TCA medium peel in Dec. 2008, TCA medium peel in Apr. 2009 and last but nut least TCA medium peel in Aug. 2009. The fraxel and the ist TCA were done by my DermaDoctor. All the other remaining peels were done by myself. It is not perfect as yet but I am satisfied with the result of patience. The pimple scar is not that obvious anymore. I know I need some more fraxel to completely remove the scar on my face.

Kim, it's possible for some people to experience redness for up to two months following their treatment. Of course, individual results vary and in some cases a deep peel might result in aggravated, longer lasting redness. Check with your doctor to be safe.

Tracy, sorry to hear that. I'm sure you know this now, but never blindly go into using a product like this without medical supervision. It might be cheaper, but it's certainly not worth the distress you're in now. I highly recommend visiting a dermatologist; I doubt your damage is permanent, and as it's still early days hopefully there will be a solution. Best of luck to you.

Marie, sorry to hear that. The scaling and redness are normal side effects of a phenol peel, and unfortunately they can last a very long time. Phenol peels can have a very slow recovery rate, and it's possible that some individuals may experience prolonged side effects. Phenols are considered very risky in the world of chemical peels, and complete healing can actually take months.

What type of cleanser are you using? I would recommend adopting a regimen of the most gentle products available, with simple ingredients. You may want to avoid soap, fragrance, lyes, dyes and lanolin, all of which are irritants.

I would press the issue with my dermatologist and firmly request a more thorough examination of the area. You're well within your right to demand answers - why is it taking so long to heal and what can you do to speed the process?

Good luck, Marie. Let us know if you have any further questions.

I had a phenol peel 14 months ago (not 14 weeks) my face is red still on each sides. I also have crusty scale, brown and yellow tone .If i'm hot, shy or have one drink, my face turn deep red . Talk about long embarrassments. I've seen several dermatologists and try so many ointments, natural products ect.. Is a dip in the ocean could help to heal or what could?Txs.

Hi Jenny, thanks for your question. If you've had freckles since childhood, it's clear to me that you're simply very prone to freckles to begin with! Though peels can definitely minimize the appearance of freckles, they can't really get rid of them, so to speak. If you experienced any irritation with the peel, basic epidermal irritation might also contribute to making the freckles that didn't "vanish" stand out.

What strength was your peel? If you provide some more details, I can look into this further for you. There are several other methods people employ to reduce the appearance of freckles - if the TCA peel doesn't seem to be doing the trick, you might want to try a different form of treatment. I hope this helps a bit!

Hi yes I just got the TCA peel done on my face. It seems to have darker old freckles and made them much more noticable. I know as I kid I have had a ton of freckles but over the years they vanished on there own some, only in the summer do they start coming back. I have had the TCA Peel done now for on and off for about a few years. Why does it seem that I still have freckles after so many peels? Its not just a little either it seems to be a lot everytime?? Thank you
