Fazia, have you been doing this yourself? If you're having difficult setting your nails at home, try a salon - they may be able to help you out.

I have been using a primer when doing gel nails, and also without, but the gel has been cracking.

Hi Roelien, thanks for your comment! Brittle, broken nails can be difficult to strengthen, but you'll be pleased to know that it is possible. Taking basic care of your nails is the first step. This is as simple as it sounds: keep your nails trimmed short, square shaped and just slightly rounded on top, soak your hands in a soothing bath oil for 15-20 minutes and follow up with a rich hand moisturizer. Be sure not to skimp on your nails! They require moisture just as much as your hands do.

Use a nail hardener, such as one by Sally Hansen, to get your nails back on the road to good health. Avoid anything that contains toluene sulfonamide or formaldehyde, which are known irritants. Also, avoid acetone polish removers!

Finally, repair any splits in your nails with a nail glue. Give it some time for this process to get your nails back to where they once were; when they've strengthened up a bit, you may have more success in growing them out.

Good day, I've got very thin nails due to artificial nails, now my nails split in the middle causing it to be filed shorter and shorter, they are now so short that I can't apply gel(can't seal in front. What must I do to get my own nails growing out and be strong like they used to be? Please help!!!!
