Kelly, let us know how he likes it!

David, I agree. I realized from my BF how hypocritical women really are. We complain that we are not treated equally to men and that we are not as free as men but this just isn't true. Men can't do anything that is remotely thought of as feminine. So what? My BF is a real man so if he wanted to wear red toenails under his socks or even openly on the beach, why not. I actually think it's kind of sexy. I'm going to get him some nail polish just for the fun of it.

I have been enjoying the freedom of wearing my toenails polished now for years. When I was first introduced to this by my wife, it was a 'different' experience because I, like most men, was brought up thinking that this is only something that women do. But she felt that it was entirely my choice if I liked it, and because it made my feet look so much better, so why not?

I guess that is one reason why I was attracted to her in tne first place, because she always has a refreshing and open-minded attitude that keeps life interesting and fun.

I would like encourage more women to give their guys the freedom to be themselves. Your relationship will benefit enourmously!

Mike, those are all great points and I completely agree. Even just basic foot care - clean, trimmed nails and moisturized skin - is a good start for many men who neglect their feet. Thanks for your great comment!

You know, if more men took better care of their feet and toenails, this might become a style rather than an anomoly. Let's face it, most men's feet are nothing to admire. On the contrary, they are typically rough, dry, calloused and the nails are untrimmed and discolored. So, all the more reason why men should enjoy the benefits of a pedicure on a regular basis. Women are attracted to a guy who takes care of himself. And they certainly are turned off by men with ugly, stinky feet! As far as men wearing nail polish, I guess I am biased for it since my wife teasingly painted my toes with a deep blue colored nail polish several years ago. We were both impressed with how well it looked, so I have been wearing them painted pretty much ever since. Yes, I do get pedicures - sometimes with my wife, and colored polish is a part of the procedure too. Should all men wear their toenails painted? Certainly not because you have to like it yourself or it will not feel right. And your wife or GF needs to weigh in on it too or you could risk her alienation. In case you are wondering if this is really something that 'normal' men do, consider that more than one nail polish company currently offers nail polish for men. BB Couture just released a collection of nail polishes that are specially designed for men in six bold masculine shades, and they apparently are selling a lot of these polishes to men - and women! And Man Glaze offers two colors of a matte finish polish for men. I think it is something that is not an overnight fad, but an evolving style for men who want something unique and a little bit edgy.

I am a guy that's 43 years old as of April, 2009. I wear clear nail polish on my fingernails all the time and I also like to wear colored nail polish on my toenails. I usually were red nail polish on my toenails more than any color. I enjoy doing this. It is cool and fun and sexy.

Jason, thanks for your input! It's a great thing that a guy would want his feet to look "better than average," as it calls attention to an area that can be problematic for many men. It seems others are catching on to this, though - many men do just love going in for pedicures because they simply like it!

Well, it seems to me the way this article is written that there may be another side of this to consider.

I wear my toenails polished pretty regularly. I don't do it because I am CD or part of another group with specialized interests. I wear it because both my wife and I just happen to like it. We go for pedicures together and enjoy getting our nails done (my toes only). We sometimes go for matching colors, but since I stick to more masculine colors, she sometimes wants something feminine instead.

I really don't beleive that any one should be so concerned that a guy would want his feet to look 'better than average'. I have to say that it is a vast improvement over what my feet used to look like, when I was embarrased to even wear sandals. I do agree that visiting a nail salon is a very relaxing and stress-reducing treat. Many of the salons we have visited have been very accomodating to couples, and none seem to feel that a guy wearing his toes polished is a big deal.
