Hi Karen! Thanks for your question. I don't think using MoM could hurt your skin. Give it a try as a spot treatment, and keep some oil-absorbing sheets (Clean & Clear makes great inexpensive ones) on hand to blot your skin as needed. Hope it helps.
-- Contributed by: TsharmaHi, I really have never had oily skin until the last few weeks. Im not sure if its a problem that intends to stay but its realy annoying.. Ive started a new job a month ago and since then everything is changing. Do you reccommend that I try this (sparingly) to see where it goes? Thanks
-- Contributed by: karenAntoinette, sorry to hear it didn't work for you! That's definitely a risk one takes when using products that are originally meant for other purposes. Many people do report success with the MoM treatment, though, so everyone's mileage will vary. Thanks for sharing your experience!
-- Contributed by: TsharmaIt broke me out...I had an allergic reaction. I would not recommend this product for the face. Use products that are meant for the face.
-- Contributed by: AntoinetteTina, it's become quite a popular "treatment" over the years! Give it a try and see how it works for you. Some people report great results!
-- Contributed by: TsharmaI have never heard of using MoM for this purpose before. I will definitely be trying it, as I am anxious to know how my make-up will be affected since I have a bronze skin tone.
-- Contributed by: TinaYinn, as far as I know MoM is safe to use during pregnancy and can soothe uncomfortable chicken pox. However, it's definitely a good idea to check with your doctor prior to using it. Good luck.
-- Contributed by: Tsharmai am 12 weeks pregnant and just broke out with chicken pox. can i use milk of magnesia topically to help dry up the pox?
-- Contributed by: yinnThanks for your comment! Let us know what happens. Chronic dermatitis is a common condition, so I'm sure many would be interested to hear the results! Good luck!
-- Contributed by: TsharmaI heard Milk of Magnesia was good for Chronic Seborrhea Dermatitis of the head. A woman wrote in to Dr. Gott about having Seborrhea for 35 years until she tried MOM, and it worked to get rid of the problem. I am using MOM now for my chronic Seborrhea Dermatitis and hope it works.
-- Contributed by: bestofrene@bellsouth.netLauren, thanks for your comment! I've heard the same thing about MoM. People really love it and have found great success with it.
-- Contributed by: Tsharmathis is the best kept secret around! My face normally gets shinny and I hate how it looked until I started to use mom. It kept my face looking smooth and my makeup stayed on all day without a single Touchup I'm impressed!!
-- Contributed by: Great!Cindy, MoM has been a special beauty secret for a while now - people love it for exactly the reasons you describe! I'm so glad it's been working for you. Enjoy your new skin!
-- Contributed by: TsharmaI stumbeled across this suggestion when searching on the net on what to do with my oily skin at 51 yrs old. I cant keep any makeup on, I tried Milk of Magnesia for 3 days now and cant believe my eyes. My skin is sensitive and it hasnt broken me out. Where have you been all my life. Finally I can go all day 9 hrs with out any touch ups!! Thank you Thank you.
-- Contributed by: CindyJeanette, thanks for your question! People tend to use MoM in different ways. Some women use it after applying their moisturizer. If you use it as a primer, you'd do the same thing. However, some people just don't like the way it feels and instead choose to use it as a treatment mask at night. If that's the case, just apply a thin layer, allow it to dry and rinse off.
-- Contributed by: TsharmaI find it interesting but would like to know if Milk of Magnesia should be applied before or after moisturizer. And what if it's in the case of a primer?
