Mia, the appearance of eczema and psoriasis may mirror shingles occasionally. Most likely you'll have some scaliness to contend with. If you've been diagnosed then you should follow through with the prescribed treatment so long as it suits you.

It's helpful to keep your skin liberally moisturized. Follow this easy method: After showering, towel off but leave the skin sufficiently damp. Apply a fragrance-free body oil (Neutrogena makes one) all over damp skin and massage in. After about 10 minutes (enough time for the oil to sink in a bit), apply a nourishing, fragrance-free body lotion all over the skin. This is a "triple moisture" treatment - you're sealing in water (the most important ingredient) with a deeply hydrating oil and following up with lotion.

Good luck.

I went to a dermatologist a few months ago and was diagnosed with Sebo-psoriasis. I experience all the symptoms of eczema like you discussed on your site but if I compare the pictures to my problem if look like Shingles (which I experience no symptomes of). Can you please help me? I need oral medicine because every ointment I used before burns me and worsen the skin.

Michelle, I'm sorry to hear about your grandson. Eczema is a common condition in both children and adults, and it can result in some serious discomfort. It is quite possible he does have eczema, especially since individuals who have it may be more susceptible to staph infections. I would urge you to see a dermatologist who specialized in child skin conditions, if you have not already. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi, My name is Michelle and my 5 year old Grandson has been suffering from what the Doctors have been callin Eczema for the last 5 years. He is on all kinds of Medications and he also is getting constant staff infections which calls fo continuous antibiotics at times. He also has Allergies and he is also on medications for that. My concern is that the medications he is on does not help very much and I'am worried that he has possibly another kind of skin disorder that we are not aware of. Could you please help. Michelle
