My Mom is 79 and may have singles - she is going to the doctors today. I am undergoing chemotherapy at the moment. If she has anything contagious how long will it be before it be safe for me to go and see her?

Sorry to hear that, Nina. It's possible it's simply related to your shingles, or it very well could be something else. I'd encourage you to see your doctor.

Michelle, though I'm not 100% positive about this, from what I understand that is not possible.

Pearl, yes, what you describe does follow the manner in which shingles can manifest itself. If you're still experiencing discomfort, please see a doctor.

If you have shingles, can you spread it on your own body. Like say you touch the affected area, then touch somewhere else on your body.

I was dignosed with shingles, but only have it on my shoulder near my neck. It has not spread any where else. But I do have this pain on my chest, like a buring pain. Is it possible for shingles not to spear any further then the blisters I have already? I do have some itching.
